Summary:
The Community Programs Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of community programs and events for Delaware County residents aged 55 and better. This role works closely with the Administrator of Community Programs to ensure thesmooth execution of initiatives and a welcoming, inclusive environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys engaging with diverse populations, and is passionate about fostering social connections.
Essential Job Functions:
Program Maintenance & Delivery (45%)
- Stay informed about all social program offerings and basic concepts.
- Assist in planning, preparing, and maintaining ongoing social programs.
- Lead or facilitate programs when necessary (e.g., calling Bingo).
- Help coordinate special events like Live on Cheshire, Dances, and New Member Socials.
- Assist with the Gift Shop and ensure smooth program setups and cleanups.
Administrative Support (40%)
- Manage registration and attendance for social programs.
- Use ACTIVE Net to access participant data and generate reports.
- Assist with quarterly programming and inventory for program supplies.
- Handle general office duties, including filing, photocopying, and maintaining office supplies.
- Support special projects in areas like Fitness & Wellness, Community Engagement, and Arts & Education.
- Maintain program calendars, databases, and records.
- Track attendance, gather feedback, and assist with program evaluations.
- Coordinate logistics such as scheduling, venue setup, and material preparation.
- Serve as the main point of contact for participants, answering inquiries and providing program information.
Community Programs & SourcePoint Services Liaison (15%)
- Engage with participants to identify needs, interests, and trends regarding programs and to create a welcoming environment.
- Work collaboratively with the SourcePoint Information & Referral team to ensure strong connections across the agency departments for both members and clients.
- Provide tours and share knowledge about programs and services with potential members and collaborators.
- Represent the organization positively in interactions with the public, volunteers, and colleagues.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in human services, recreation, or community programs.
- Familiarity with aging-related issues like isolation and the benefits of socialization.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain professional under pressure.
- Proficiency in Office 365, Outlook, and resource management software.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to fostering a positive work culture and projecting a positive organizational image.
Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays, as required.
- Ability to work for extended periods at a computer or on the phone.
- Ability to move freely around the building.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly without assistance.
