Summary:

The Community Programs Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of community programs and events for Delaware County residents aged 55 and better. This role works closely with the Community Programs Administrator to ensure the smooth execution of initiatives and a welcoming, inclusive environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys engaging with diverse populations, and is passionate about fostering social connections.

  • Reports to: Community Programs Administrator
  • FLSA: Part-Time. Hourly. Nonexempt.
  • Starting Pay: Starting $19/hour

Essential Job Functions:

SourcePoint Services Liaison

  • Serve as the main point of contact for participants, answering inquiries and providing program information. 
  • Engage with participants to identify needs, interests, and trends regarding programs and to create a welcoming environment. 
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries related to community programs. 
  • Provide tours and share knowledge about programs and services with potential members and collaborators. 
  • Represent the organization positively in interactions with the public, volunteers, and colleagues. 
  • Work collaboratively with the SourcePoint Community Resources Navigator team to build strong connections across the agency departments for both members and clients.

Administrative Support

  • Use ACTIVE Net to access participant data and generate reports. 
  • Assist with program registration, payments, and participant communications. 
  • Handle general office duties, including filing, photocopying, tracking supply inventory and ordering office materials, as needed.  
  • Support special projects in areas like Customer Service, Fitness & Wellness, Community Engagement, and Arts & Education. 
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, gather feedback and assist with program evaluations. 
  • Coordinate scheduling, venue setup, and material preparation for programs.

Community Programs Coordination & Engagement

  • Stay informed about all social program offerings and basic concepts. 
  • Provide on-site support to instructors, presenters, volunteers, and participants, ensuring programs run smoothly.  
  • Assist with the set-up, check-in, and clean-up of social programs, workshops, and events. 
  • Lead or facilitate programs when necessary (e.g., calling Bingo). 
  • Help foster a welcoming, inclusive, and positive atmosphere within program spaces. 
  • Support outreach and special events that promote community engagement and participation (e.g., New Member Socials, Dances, Live on Cheshire).  

Other Duties

  • Support other team members and departments as needed to advance the organization’s mission. 
  • Attend staff meetings and training, as required. 
Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in human services, recreation, or community programs.
  • Familiarity with aging-related issues like isolation and the benefits of socialization.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain professional under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, Outlook, and resource management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive work culture and projecting a positive organizational image.
Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays as required.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer or on the phone.
  • Ability to move freely around the building.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly without assistance.
