Volunteers play a crucial role at SourcePoint and support our mission to help our community thrive after 55. From lending a hand in in-home care and nutrition services to volunteering in the enrichment center, volunteers are all valuable members of the SourcePoint team. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented individual who enjoys connecting with others to actively recruit and promote SourcePoint volunteering opportunities in the community.


Summary

SourcePoint helps Delaware County adults 55 and better live safely at home and stay healthy as they age. We provide in-home care like Meals on Wheels, a large community center, support for caregivers, and more. We have over 500 active volunteers who support our ability to provide over 1,000 meals per day and over 100 programs each week. Our volunteers are crucial to our organization, and we are looking for a recruiter who will enthusiastically go out into our community and spread the word about the wonderful work they can be a part of. Working under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Volunteer Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and recognition of all volunteers.

  • Reports to: Human Resources Manager
  • FLSA: Full-time, Hourly (nonexempt)
  • Pay: $19.26-$26.35/hour
  • Benefits: health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, retirement savings plan (even if you do not contribute), and generous paid time off

Essential Job Functions & Expectations:

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Recruit volunteers on an ongoing basis to meet organizational needs and reassign them as needed.
  • Prepare and implement recruitment strategies for targeted and general recruitment, including but not limited to making presentations in a public setting.
  • Prepares and attends recruiting events schedule inclusive of days, evenings, and occasionally weekends.
  • Coordinates with departments to promote volunteer opportunities and maintains open communication with the Advancement department to ensure effective promotion and timely updates to the volunteer section of the website.
  • Communicate with volunteers via email as needed, including contributing to My Communicator and the quarterly volunteer newsletter.

Administration

  • Assist the HR Manager with updating volunteer handbooks, policies, and job descriptions.
  • Maintain oversight of volunteer records and database; train other users as needed and conduct regular audits for accuracy
  • Support employees who work with volunteers by ensuring compliance with interagency roles, responsibilities, and policies through clear written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain the volunteer dashboard.
  • Prepare mileage reports.
  • Supervise administrative volunteers.

Volunteer Recognition and Retention

  • Conduct annual volunteer surveys and focus groups to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support for internal and external award nominations.
  • Track volunteer milestones and administer recognition programs.
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition events in partnership with the Events Specialist.

Volunteer Onboarding

  • Manage all aspects of onboarding, including interviews, matching candidates to opportunities, ID badge production, agency compliance checks, orientation, and fingerprinting.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write articles, newsletters, and job descriptions. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and teach a volunteer database program at an advanced level.
  •  Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to collaborate with the Events Specialist to plan events.
  • Able to work respectfully and effectively with diverse populations, including older adults.
  • Outgoing and persuasive, with the ability to initiate conversations and influence volunteer decisions.
Education & Experience:
  • Experience in recruiting, including grassroots recruitment and community outreach.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience with Volgistics (preferred).
  • Creative and analytical writing experience (preferred).
  • Experience collaborating across departments to meet common goals.
  • Experience handling complaints and conducting difficult conversations.
Essential Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to move between worksites and accomplish tasks at various locations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend events.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow).
  • Occasional physical activity such as setting up tables; ability to lift to 20 lbs.
