A Message from Fara

Dear Volunteers,

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to take a moment to share my heartfelt thanks for all that you do. Your kindness, dedication, and hard work are truly the foundation of our community, and I’m constantly inspired by the difference you make in the lives of older adults and their families.

Today, I’m excited to highlight a new volunteer opportunity that’s close to my heart: the Activity Partner role.

Volunteer Appreciation Gifts

We are excited to announce that we now have new SourcePoint gear that volunteers will receive once they’ve reached a milestone.

Once you cross the 200, 500, or 1,000-hour threshold, be on the lookout for a voucher in the mail listing your designated gift of appreciation. Simply bring your voucher to the customer service desk to redeem your prize!

200 HOURS = Polo shirt OR long-sleeved t-shirt (your choice)
500 HOURS = Pullover ¾ zip sweatshirt
1,000 HOURS = Full-zip hooded jacket
2,000+ HOURS = Your choice of anything from our entire gear selection!

Building Friendships and Community

THE CAREGIVER ACTIVITY PROGRAM
By Brian Fox, Caregiver Coordinator

There are a few topics of discussion that seem to surface during just about every single session of a SourcePoint Caregiver Conversation support group — things like stress management techniques, navigating community resources, being a medical advocate, etc. Still though, probably the number one overarching talking point is “How do you explain to an older adult in your care why it is in their best interest to just get up and try new things?”

Fall for a new volunteer role…

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. If you would like to try a new volunteer role (or know others who want to join you), here are some great volunteer opportunities that have open positions:

Medical Transportation: Transport seniors to medical appointments from their home and back. Mileage reimbursement, flexible scheduling, and you choose which appointments to accept!

Meals on Wheels Delivery: Deliver hot lunches once a week between 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mileage reimbursement and free lunch! Volunteer the same day once a week. Most routes start and end at SourcePoint.

Line Dancing Assistant: Assist our line dancing instructor in teaching classes at SourcePoint once per week.

Fitness Desk/Aquatics Desk Attendant: Monitor the fitness area or pool area. Fitness desk volunteers may work out during shifts! Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Home Chore Volunteer: Rake leaves, weed gardens, wash windows. Flexible schedule.

Activity Partner: Participate in SourcePoint activities alongside an individual who may require some assistance. Flexible schedule!

Café 55 Assistants: Help people carry their trays to their table, carry drinks, and clean tables afterward.

Café 55 Line Server: Fill trays at lunchtime in the café.

Choral Director (temporary): Direct our senior choir 1:30-3 every Friday. Some special events, too.

Piano Accompanist: Accompany our SourcePoint Choir, The Golden Notes.
