Meet Phina Delacroix

Phina Ifeoma Delacroix has always had a deep sense of service to others, a value she carries from her upbringing in Gabon, a French-speaking nation in Central Africa.  From working for the US Embassy in Gabon to traveling the world as a flight attendant for Nigerian Airways for 16 years, Phina has lived a fascinating and exciting life.

For the past two years, she has shared her energy with us here at SourcePoint, where she dedicates several hours each week volunteering as a Café 55 Assistant. Her warm smile and caring nature have made her a beloved figure in Café 55, where members, volunteers, and staff look forward to seeing her every week. Phina has been a Meals on Wheels recipient herself and feels an immense sense of fulfillment in giving back to the SourcePoint community that has given so much to her since she came to this country almost 6 years ago.

Volunteers Came Back to Nonprofits in 2023

By THALIA BEATY for The Associated Press, New York

From foster grandparents who volunteer at an early child care center to citizen scientists who collect water quality data in remote locations, nonprofit volunteers have come back after the pandemic.

A new survey released Tuesday from the U.S. Census Bureau and AmeriCorps shows 28.3% or 75.8 million people in the U.S. volunteered with a nonprofit between Sept. 2022 and Sept. 2023. That is a rebound since COVID-19 public health shutdowns tanked participation by almost 7 percentage points to 23.2% in 2021, the last time the survey was conducted. It is not a full return to pre-pandemic rates of volunteerism.

Save the Date!

If you are a current volunteer who served in 2024, be on the lookout for an e-invite to the annual Volunteer Dinner & Recognition!

Volunteers are even more precious than leprechaun gold, so it’s only appropriate that we honor our volunteers in true Saint Patrick’s Day fashion on Monday, March 17🍀

We can’t wait to celebrate YOU!
