The Donor Relations Coordinator is a key team member within our organization. They develop and implement strategies to build and maintain strong relationships with donors and supporters of SourcePoint. We seek an experienced individual with exceptional communication skills, knowledge of donor relations and industry best practices, and strong organizational skills to fill this position.
Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the chief advancement officer, the donor relations coordinator is responsible for handling the daily activities of SourcePoint’s development program in line with strategic and annual operating plans and fostering a culture of giving within the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Donor Cultivation and Retention
- Help create and implement goals and strategies for all fundraising efforts.
- Lead an annual strategy of solicitation methods and/or events that will enable the organization to attract, retain, and motivate donors.
- Meet or exceed annual performance measures, including financial targets.
- Build strong and sustained relationships with donors and prospective donors.
- Help secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Help develop and grow our individual and corporate donor base.
- Increase major and planned gifts to the organization.
- Research prospective donors and cultivate relationships.
- Participate in key activities and events both at SourcePoint and in the community.
- Oversee donor recognition and stewardship activities.
- Utilize Donor Perfect and work with staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
Internal Education and Collaboration
- Help train and lead staff, board members, and volunteers to support fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate donor- and partner-related networking efforts amongst departments.
- Prepare materials for and participate in the board’s development committee.
- Work routinely with the executive director to cultivate donor relationships and donor stewardship.
Grants and Corporate Gift Agreements
- Assist in identifying and writing nongovernmental grant proposals, often in coordination with program leaders.
- Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Fluency with office software, including Microsoft Office and Donor Perfect or similar donor database system.
Education and Experience:
- Possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years or more of experience in fundraising preferred.
- Knowledgeable about charitable giving, planned gifts, pertinent state and federal laws, and industry best practices.
Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or phone.
- Must be able to drive and accommodate a flexible schedule for off-site meetings and events, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to move about in various environments, including outdoors.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
Other:
In any organization, particularly a small organization, it is necessary to assume new responsibilities necessary to ensure a smooth continuity of operations within the organization. It is expected that other organizational needs will emerge, which will be assigned to the donor relations coordinator.
