Kitchen-Assistant-Volunteer

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Kitchen assistants work alongside SourcePoint’s chefs to prepare, pack, and serve 1000 meals a day for Meals on Wheels and Community Cafes. They are morning people who enjoy the camaraderie of a team and the bustling environment of a kitchen. Possible volunteer positions include packer, chef’s assistant, and café line server. Free lunch on the day of service.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers must be able to stand unaided, move about, and push a cart. Some lifting may be involved.

TRAINING

SourcePoint Volunteer Orientation, Food & Safety training and annual nutrition department training.

TIME COMMITMENT

A typical kitchen assistant volunteers for one shift a week from about 7-11am. Café line servers volunteer from 10:30am-2pm.

LOCATION

SourcePoint’s Cheshire Road location.

DRESS CODE

Long pants, closed-toe shoes, SourcePoint t-shirt, baseball cap (or hair net), and volunteer badge.

SUPPORT

The Sous Chef supports SourcePoint’s Kitchen Assistants.
