SourcePoint Honors Volunteers at 25th Appreciation Dinner

PRESS RELEASE – SourcePoint celebrated National Volunteer Week with an appreciation dinner for volunteers on April 19 at the Medallion Club in Westerville. Generously sponsored by Greif, Inc., more than 280 volunteers gathered for a dinner buffet and program recognizing the dedication, service, and continued growth of the organization’s dynamic pool of volunteers.

The keynote speaker, SourcePoint CEO Fara Waugh, expressed gratitude for the hundreds of volunteers who have impacted thousands of local older adults with their contributions of time and talent.

“Last year alone, 643 volunteers contributed over 48,000 hours of their time,” said Waugh. “The fruits of your labor make a substantial impact in our community, and I am especially touched by the kindness and care behind your choice to volunteer with SourcePoint.”

Representatives from various departments within the organization spoke of the impact each department’s volunteers made on the community in the last year. In between each speaker, volunteers were recognized for reaching specific milestones of service.

Volunteers reaching 20-25 years of service were Roger Van Sickle (25), Kathy Packham (24), Rebecca Wallace (22), Sue Packard, Bob Postle (20), and Sue Postle (20).

Achieving 15 years of service included Evelyn Brookens, Nancy Gore, Beth Kastle, Nancy Larson, Thom Mills, Vicki Mills, Carla Mollmann, Donna Morton, Walter Morton, Betty Schinke, Les Schinke, Chrissie Tucker-Eubanks, Eva Vaghy, and Cathy Woodruff.

10-year volunteers were Dan Bickley, Kathy Bickley, Sherry Brown, Alice Conty, Lydia Dowler, Julie Holcombe, Peggy Jones, Tim Leidinger, Ronn Melton, John Ogg, Nancy Ogg, Trudy Poole, Cindy Tolene, Gail Tolene, Madison Wolery, and Rachel Wolery.

Those reaching 5 years of service included Kirtes Calvery, Alice Chapan, Bruce Chapman, Bob Claymier, Tony Condo, Carlos Crawford, Karen Crosman, Joyce Daugherty, Jack Fette, Gregg Gerber, Joanne Gerber, Denise Hackley, Lynne Hamilton, Jan Hoover, Ted Jacobs, Leslie Menges, Laura Noll, Roger Noll, Libby Paskell, Laura Pierce, Eileen Richardson, Mary Sandberg, Tony Smith, Dennis Strohm, Leo Timm, Kathie Tyler, Steve Van Arsdale, Ellen Watson, Jan Wiltjer, and Van Young.

Two SourcePoint volunteers were nominated and selected for community awards in the last year. Kathy Packham, a Meals on Wheels volunteer, was chosen as the recipient of Serve Ohio’s volunteer award for central Ohio for which SourcePoint received a $1,000 donation. An in-home care volunteer, Delma Jackson, will be inducted into the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging’s Senior Hall of Fame on May 17.
