Age-Friendly: Transportation

Help older adults get where they need to go by ensuring that travel is safe, affordable, and flexible—whether that’s by driving a car that fits them well or using alternative transit options.

Alternative Transportation

⫸ Delaware County Transit transportation services currently include Demand Response and FLEX Route with Paratransit service for those individuals that have been certified. Other Services, including services for individuals with special needs, are available.

 Gohio Mobility is a free, comprehensive, statewide platform that brings together various modes of transportation. Users can search for transportation options using filters for location, payment type, and accommodations such as wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

 Medical Transportation is offered to eligible SourcePoint in-home care clients.This essential service provides transportation to appointments both within and outside the county. To learn more, contact mobility@MySourcePoint.org.

 Mobility Manager services and website is a guide to transportation options in Delaware County, Ohio created to find individual transportation solutions based on own circumstances.

Safety & Training

 SAFE Delaware County Coalition provides educational programs and resources relating to injury prevention to keep our county a safe place to live. The CarFit program is a mature driver safety workshop that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. The program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers and/or increase their mobility in the community. >> Find a CarFit event near you.

 One-On-One Conversation with a Peer Have questions about driving — for yourself or someone you care about? Schedule a friendly, peer-based, one-on-one conversation—no tests or lectures. Jackie Bain from the Delaware Public Health District will meet with you to chat about everyday driving concerns, common challenges, and simple tips or adjustments that can help you feel more confident behind the wheel. You’ll also get connected to local resources and helpful information tailored to your situation.  >> Register online

Collaboration

The Transportation Domain works in partnership with Delaware County’s SAFE Coalition led by the Delaware Public Health District and with Delaware County Transit’s Transportation Advisory Committee.  Both groups combine input from local organizations with resources and tools available from regional, state, and federal levels to improve transportation options for Delaware County residents.
