SourcePoint has over 500 active volunteers who support our ability to provide nearly 1,000 meals per day and over 100 programs each week. Our volunteers are essential to our organization, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to serve as the face of volunteerism at SourcePoint – someone who thrives on connecting with people, forming partnerships, and championing the many ways individuals can support our mission.
Summary
SourcePoint helps Delaware County adults 55 and better live safely at home and stay healthy as they age. We provide in-home care like Meals on Wheels, a large community center, support for caregivers, and more. Working under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and recognition.
Essential Job Functions & Expectations:
Community Engagement and Recruitment
- Serve as the primary public representative for SourcePoint’s volunteer program; build visibility and enthusiasm for volunteer opportunities through in-person outreach, presentations, and relationship-building.
- Recruit volunteers on an ongoing basis to meet organizational needs and reassign as needed.
- Proactively attend and present at community events, senior fairs, and outreach opportunities to represent and promote SourcePoint’s volunteer programs.
- Proactively collaborate with internal departments to identify unmet needs and design new volunteer roles that advance strategic goals.
- Maintain open communication with the Advancement department as a key player in community engagement opportunities
- Communicate with volunteers as needed, including contributing to My Communicator and the quarterly volunteer newsletter.
Administration
- Maintain oversight of volunteer records and database; train other users as needed and conduct regular audits for accuracy
- Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance for administrative volunteers; delegate tasks, provide training, and support a positive experience.
- Support employees who work with volunteers by ensuring compliance with interagency roles, responsibilities, and policies through clear written and verbal communication.
- Assist the HR Manager with updating volunteer handbooks, policies, and job descriptions.
- Prepare mileage reports.
Volunteer Recognition and Retention
- Cultivate a sense of community and connection amongst volunteers
- Contribute to the long-term strategy for volunteer engagement by analyzing trends, identifying barriers, and recommending improvements to enhance recruitment and retention.
- Conduct annual volunteer surveys and focus groups to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance and support for internal and external award nominations.
- Track volunteer milestones and administer recognition programs.
- Coordinate volunteer recognition events in partnership with the Events Specialist.
Volunteer Onboarding
- Manage all aspects of onboarding, including interviews, matching candidates to opportunities, ID badge production, agency compliance checks, orientation, and fingerprinting.

Required Skills & Abilities:
- An outgoing, community-minded, and mission-driven personality
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate potential volunteers.
- Comfortable taking initiative and representing SourcePoint in diverse public settings.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and foster relationships with volunteers from older adult and diverse communities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write articles, newsletters, and job descriptions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and able to learn and utilize new technologies
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to collaborate with Events Specialist to plan events.
- Available to attend events outside of regular working hours, including evenings and weekends
Education & Experience:
- Experience coordinating a large volunteer population
- Experience collaborating across departments to meet common goals.
- Experience addressing concerns and resolving issues with professionalism and empathy.
- Experience in volunteer recruiting, including grassroots recruitment and community outreach (preferred)
- Experience with Volgistics (preferred).
- Creative and analytical writing experience (preferred).
Essential Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to move between worksites and accomplish tasks at various locations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend events.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow).
- Occasional physical activity such as setting up tables; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
