Volunteers serve in pairs to staff a SourcePoint table at one of the county’s Farmers’ Markets – Delaware, Sunbury and Powell. The purpose is to assist low-income seniors with filling out applications for vouchers used to purchase fresh produce, thereby encouraging healthy food choices. The volunteers also serve as a community resource, providing information about available senior services.
Volunteers must be able to sit for an extended period. One volunteer must be able to retrieve and transport a rolling cart, a small folding table, and chairs from SourcePoint to the Farmers’ Market site.
SourcePoint Volunteer Orientation, Farmers’ Market volunteer training
The time frame is approximately 9am-12pm on Saturday mornings, or 3-5pm Wednesday afternoons (Delaware only) from June – October. Volunteers can select specific dates and locations or serve on a rotating basis.
