PRESS RELEASE—SourcePoint is proud to announce it received two generous grants from the Delaware County Foundation in support of its mission to help Delaware County residents thrive after 55. The Foundation’s Women Giving Together Delaware County fund, Del-Co Water Community Fund, and the Robert Weiler Fund have together awarded SourcePoint a total of $12,500 to strengthen local meal programs and improve emergency preparedness.
The Women Giving Together Delaware County grant of $5,000 helps cover the cost of 2,512 nutritious meals served at SourcePoint’s community cafes. These cafes provide older adults with affordable, healthy meals in a social setting that helps combat both food insecurity and isolation. The funding will supplement federal and local senior levy support, stretching SourcePoint’s resources to serve more residents in need.
“Meal programs like our community cafes do more than provide nourishment—they connect people,” said Karen Pillion, nutrition program administrator at SourcePoint. “This funding from Women Giving Together helps ensure we can continue to provide both the food and friendship that keep our older adults healthy and engaged.”
Additionally, SourcePoint received a combined $7,500 in support from the Del-Co Water Community Fund and the Robert Weiler Fund to enhance emergency preparedness within the organization’s Meals on Wheels program.
The grant funded the purchase of laptops, a printer, and accessories that allow staff to maintain operations during emergencies—ensuring meal delivery continues even if the main facility becomes inaccessible.
“During the pandemic, we learned the importance of being ready for any disruption,” said Fara Waugh, CEO of SourcePoint. “These grants make it possible for our Meals on Wheels team to stay connected, communicate with volunteers, and deliver meals no matter the circumstances.”
The Delaware County Foundation’s continued support reflects its deep commitment to improving the quality of life across the community. Since 2011, Women Giving Together Delaware County has awarded more than $730,000 in collective grants to local nonprofits, empowering women to pool their resources and make meaningful change.
SourcePoint extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Delaware County Foundation and its donors for their ongoing investment in the health, safety, and well-being of Delaware County’s older adults.
