We are looking for a patient and understanding person who enjoys and respects older adults to join our team. Meal Delivery Drivers must be able to drive, have access to reliable transportation, and be willing to drive in all types of weather.

Reports to: Nutrition Program Supervisor | FLSA: Part-time non-exempt position $15/hour

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Program Supervisor, the Meal Delivery Driver is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of meals, as well as the packing of delivery bags.  The Meal Delivery Driver will drive either an assigned agency vehicle or their own vehicle based on vehicle availability.  If assigned as a hub route driver, the Meal Delivery Driver will distribute bags to hub route drivers from the assigned site.  Based on the day’s open routes, the driver will be assigned a meal route to be delivered before returning to the hub site to pick up delivery bags.  The Meal Delivery Driver will generally be scheduled three to five days per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 am to 2 pm to cover any open meal delivery routes to ensure uninterrupted service to clients.   There is a need for flexibility to attend meetings before and after the regular assigned schedule.  

Essential Job Functions:

Meal Delivery (60%)

  • Prepare delivery bags for assigned routes, including packing meals, drinks & sides
  • Complete the pre-delivery van checklist on the assigned vehicle to ensure it is maintained in good working order
  • Confirm all scheduled routes from the hub location are picked up, communicating no-shows to the Supervisor immediately
  • Act as a substitute driver on an assigned route(s) daily
  • Follow meal delivery policies and procedures
  • Return delivery bags & temperature control units to the appropriate location upon return from routes
  • Ensure the assigned delivery van is clean with sufficient fuel for the next day’s operations

Communication & Collaboration (20%)

  • Adhere to all applicable Nutrition Program policies and procedures
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of customer eligibility for all funding sources, service availability, and all program requirements
  • Troubleshoot and train hub route drivers, as required, including assisting with technology
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service education programs, as required
  • Exhibit an understanding of and commitment to SourcePoint’s pursuit of excellence in customer service
  • Act as an ambassador of the program by allowing individual ride-along guests to experience the impact of the program

Reporting & Recordkeeping (20%)

  • Maintain accurate delivery records that meet funding requirements
  • Report any van issues immediately to be addressed by the Nutrition Program Supervisor
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic automotive maintenance and repair knowledge
  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations
  • Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to maintain required records
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate effective oral, written, and electronic communication methods with a diverse group of individuals in a professional manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be creative and deal with change and ambiguity
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass criminal background checks per agency policy
Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Maintain appropriate personal hygiene
  • Possession of automobile insurance in an amount established by SourcePoint, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to drive in all types of weather
  • The Meal Delivery Driver is expected to be familiar with the work of others to fill in as needed temporarily.

In any organization, particularly a small organization, it is necessary to assume new responsibilities necessary to ensure a smooth continuity of operations within the organization.  It is expected that other organizational needs will emerge, which will be assigned to the Meal Delivery Driver.
